Students enjoy this rich cultural resource as they discover just how interesting history can be.

Embark on a 60-minute historical walking tour, geared to the class's specific requirements, which takes you through the streets and alleys of one of the oldest towns in North America. Our tours cover many diverse aspects of Albuquerque’s history. Tours typically include early Native American life, adobe construction, the arrival of the Spanish, trade on the Camino Real and the Santa Fe Trail, the Civil War in Albuquerque, the Plaza, the San Felipe de Neri Church, law and order in the Wild West, the architecture of Old Town’s historic buildings and how today’s residential and retail locations have evolved.

Tours include historic photographs, interesting trivia and fun facts of Albuquerque which helps students to see and understand how the area has grown and changed in three centuries. Students consider how their lives would have been MUCH different had they lived in Old Town when the Villa was first settled in 1706, over seventy years before the United States became a country,

Ghost Tours are a great way to interest students in Albuquerque’s history. These 90-minute walking tours illustrate the city’s origins, civic life in general and even the science behind today’s most popular ghost hunting techniques. Stories are geared to the ages of the students. Tours include photographs, video and audio clips of possible paranormal activity. Ghost Tours are appropriate at any time of the year, but particularly in October. This tour is very popular with out-of-town schools which are staying overnight in Albuquerque, but also works very well during the daytime.

The ideal time for a Tour of Old Town is from 60 to 90 minutes, but times can be adjusted to suit individual timetables and transportation arrangements. There is convenient drop off and pick up points for both cars and buses. Some classes schedule their tour to finish at lunchtime so that they may eat in an Old Town restaurant. (Tours of Old Town can assist with these arrangements, if needed.) There are parks and outdoor areas nearby for sacked lunches as well.

History, Legends & Lore - Private School Group Tour

Thank you so very much for the wonderful Tour. My students are eager to learn, and your tour topped the "cake" for our Social Studies unit on Community History! Thanks for having us. The students were really excited, and learning about their community gave them all a whole new appreciation for history.

The tour guides were great and provided lots of important information to the students. Believe me, I am already thinking about next year!

Ghost Tour of Old Town - Private Group Tour

I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed the Old Town Ghost Tour on Saturday night.  I have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone in my work group who attended.  Not only were the ghost stories fun and interesting, but the Albuquerque natives were surprised to find that there are parts of Old Town that they didn't know were there.  Ever since the tour, many of us have been sharing the stories that we learned with our friends and family, and encouraging them to take the tour.

Just for fun, I am attaching the one picture that we had taken from the tour.  When I had taken this picture, the digital camera shut off even though the battery was fine.  When I turned it back on, there was an "orb" shape to the bottom right of the bench, as well as a dimmer "orb" below that.

Thanks for a fun evening, the Tour was super!  Take care!

Jennifer
